With its high solids and high viscosity, WaterCote dries clear, with a high gloss finish. It is a water-based, environmentally friendly product. In addition to its protective properties, WaterCote can also be used for colouring and adding a glossy finish to various surfaces. To colour WaterCote, you can mix water based colour pigments such as acrylic inks, mica, glitters, or Powder Pigments. These colourants are suitable for use with water-based products and will not affect the curing process of the resin.
One of the main advantages of WaterCote is its high solids content, which means that a thicker layer can be applied in just one coat. This saves time and effort compared to traditional polyurethane resins that require multiple coats for optimal coverage.
The high viscosity also allows for better control and precision during application, resulting in a smoother finish with fewer brush strokes or imperfections. Not only does WaterCote provide superior protection against everyday wear and tear, but it also enhances the natural beauty of the surfaces it is applied to. Its clear gloss finish adds depth and richness to wood grains, while adding vibrancy and shine to painted or decorative surfaces.
It can even be used as a topcoat over other coatings such as acrylic paints or glitter for added durability. What sets WaterCote apart from other polyurethane resins is its water-based formula. This makes it safer to use without sacrificing quality or performance. Unlike solvent-based resins, there are no harsh fumes or chemicals involved, making it ideal for indoor applications where ventilation may be limited.
WaterCote is not just limited to furniture coating – its versatility extends to various DIY projects such as sealing wooden countertops, creating resin art pieces on canvas or wood panels, and even coating drink tumblers, coasters or serving trays for a professional and durable finish. With WaterCote, you can achieve the perfect balance of protection and beauty in your home or project, all while being environmentally friendly.

Water-resistant polyurethane is a type of polymer that is typically used as a protective coat on various surfaces. It is known for its clear, glossy finish and its ability to resist water damage. Water-resistant polyurethane often requires more coats compared to oil-based options to achieve a smooth and durable finish.
Water-resistant polyurethane can be applied to both porous and non-porous surfaces. It will penetrate into porous surfaces, such as wood, and form a barrier that repels the elements. On non-porous surfaces, such as metal or glass, it forms a thin, hard film that protects against water damage.
When choosing a water resistant polyurethane, consider the type of surface you will be applying it to and the level of protection you need.

When coating wood projects like outdoor tables it is best to apply with a foam roller for an even glossy finish. Air bubbles can be removed by manually popping with a pin or you can mix up 90% rubbing alcohol with 10% water and apply with a fine mist spray bottle.
