How To Dry Flowers For Resin?

Drying flowers for resin is a simple and enjoyable process that allows you to preserve their natural beauty in a unique way. If you want to create stunning resin jewellery or add embellishments to your crafts, dried flowers are the perfect addition.

To get started, first choose the type of flower you would like to use. Roses, lavender, and baby’s breath are popular options because they retain their shape and colour well when dried.

Next, carefully pick fresh flowers with fully opened petals and flower petals. Remove any excess leaves or stems that may interfere with the drying process. It is important to work with clean and dry hands so as not to introduce any moisture onto the flowers.

Ensure the flowers dry completely before using them in resin projects to prevent deterioration. There are several methods for drying flowers for resin, but one of the most effective ways is by using silica gel crystals. This method preserves the shape and colour of delicate petals while removing all moisture from within them.

Place a layer of silica gel crystals at the bottom of an airtight container, making sure there is enough room for your flowers without touching each other or the sides of the container. Gently place your chosen blooms on top of this layer and cover them completely with more silica gel crystals until they are fully submerged. You can also use parchment paper to press and dry flowers before placing them in the container.

Seal the container tightly and leave it in a cool, dark place for 3-7 days, depending on the thickness of the petals. Once fully dried, carefully remove the flowers from the crystals and gently brush off any excess. Use a heat gun to remove bubbles during the resin curing process for a clear finish. Your flowers are now ready to be encased in casting resin!
