What to Consider When Choosing Epoxy Pigments?

There are many factors to consider when choosing epoxy pigments.

Make sure you keep your goal in mind before picking a colour for resin. For example, you may want to make jewellery that glows even in the darkest rooms. This would mean purchasing our glow in the dark pigment powders. When choosing a resin colour, take into account the type of project you are working on. Acrylic inks can mix with acrylic art and powders used for nail lacquer. Different types of pigment have different compatibilities. You should consider the type of project you are working on when choosing a resin colour.

Think about the type of epoxy resin you will be using. Different types of resins may require different pigments. As some may not be compatible with certain chemicals or solvents.

Consider the colour and intensity you want for your project. Epoxy pigments come in a wide range of colours and hues. So take into account what shades will best suit your design. You should also pay attention to the opacity of the pigment. Some are more transparent while others are more opaque. Choose depending on how much coverage you want for your final product.

Another important factor is the mixing ratio. Some epoxy pigments need a specific amount to achieve desired results,. Make sure to follow instructions when mixing them with your resin. You don't have to be afraid to mix and match colours when it comes to resin colour combinations. For decorative ornaments. Mixing and matching hues can result in intricate designs. That will amaze your customers or loved ones. You can even mix and match colours to create your own custom colour scheme.

It's crucial to consider the curing time and temperature requirements. For both the resin and pigment. Certain pigments may affect curing time or need specific temperatures. For optimal colour development.

Always test a small amount of pigment with your resin before committing to a larger batch. This way you can ensure that the colour turns out as expected. Avoiding any potential issues during application.

The best way to narrow down your resin colour pigment options is to view them side by side. You can refer to the resin colour guide to help you choose.

By considering these factors when choosing epoxy pigments. You can create stunning projects with vibrant colours.

How To Add Colour To Resin?

All you have to do is follow the simple instructions below to add any of our epoxy resin colours to your work:

On a sturdy table, prepare the necessary equipment—preferably in a well-ventilated area. This equipment includes gloves, containers, stirring sticks, and other items.

Based on the directions provided on your epoxy resin kit. Take care and measure out Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener). The ratios will vary depending on the type of resin you purchased.

Add the resin pigment in the container with Part A . Make sure the pigment is evenly distributed throughout the solvent. Add 10% pigment to the container.

Mix Part A and Part B for three minutes before combining them in a larger container. Stir each solution to activate the chemicals inside.

You will see the resin colour once mixed.

Adding pigment to the epoxy resin at a later point in the process. Would result in uneven colour distribution and less time to work with the active mixture. Add colours to Part A in advance. Because the curing process begins once both solutions mix.

How Much Colour Pigment Do You Add To Epoxy?

In contrast to Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener). Epoxy resin colours cannot be precisely measured. The richness or depth of the colour depends on the project and your preference.

We recommend staying below a ratio of 10% (tint to resin). Adding a little bit of colour at a time until you reach your desired shade.

Most of the time, if you are pouring paint art, you will want more liquid ink or pigment powder. On the other hand. If you’re looking to coat a table, then a small amount of epoxy resin colour would go a long way. When testing colours. Be sure to use small amounts of Parts A and B in a trial container to determine how much to use.

You should also keep in mind. That high temperatures, long exposure to UV rays, and harsh cleaning solutions. Such as rubbing alcohol, could adversely affect the resin's quality. We recommend that you store your work in a cool, dark place. Only clean it with warm soapy water because of this reason.
