Casting resin for moulds and resin casting artwork, Just Resin's ArtCast is extremely hard and durable casting resin that sets in under 40 mins, allowing you to create detailed art pieces with intricate designs. This high-quality casting resin is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists, as it is easy to mix and pour into moulds. The ArtCast 3:1 Resin is a two-part epoxy resin, which cures relatively fast, so you do not waste any time when you are in the process of making something. ArtCast Slow is best used in producing detailed design and structures that would otherwise be tricky to accomplish using other resins.
Casting Resin using ArtCast 3:1 Resin, simply mix 3 parts Resin to 1 part hardener by volume together and pour into your silicone mould. Then you may apply various pigments or methods to make your own special design. When you are satisfied with your design, leave it to cure in the resin for 24 hours then demould.
ArtCast 3:1 Resin manufactured by Just Resin is a great option for those who want to create detailed art pieces without having to worry about the resin setting being too slow. Its 40 min gel time will still allow you the time in producing something long lasting and special.
Casting Moulds using casting resin can be a complicated process. Pouring resin into a mould can be one of the more challenging things. When pouring, if you pour it too fast or too high, it may contain a lot of bubbles during the final cure. To avoid this, you can use our ArtCast casting resin as it’s very low in viscosity coupled with outstanding air release, which will provide higher quality castings with minimal to no bubbles.
Showcase your embedded casting with our super clear casting resin. The results you find from our clear cast resin will help you create an appealing and eye-catching display. Our resin is uniquely designed to clarity grade so that your embedded items are displayed in the best way possible without any haze or yellowing. Its top quality formula pours easily with minimum bubbles, so you get a smooth and perfect finish with each use. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crafter, our clear casting resin is easy to use and provides professional-looking results. It dries with high gloss and is long lasting and durable. Not only does our clear casting resin produce stunning results, it also has low odour and low toxicity compared to other resins on the market. This enables its safety of use in any working environment without producing irritable fumes or irritations. In addition to its impressive clarity and safety features, our clear casting resin also has excellent UV resistance which prevents yellowing over time. This ensures that your creations will remain crystal clear even under the sunlight or other artificial sources of light. Our customers rave about the quality of our clear casting resin and how it enhances their artwork by adding depth and dimension. In a single pour you can make your embedded objects come alive and at the same time protect them into the future.
Epoxy casting resin is of a less viscous consistency than normal epoxy coating resin. An epoxy casting resin is made explicitly for casting works, such as moulds, figurines, filling wood, deep pour, and jewellery. Unlike most coating resins, a casting resin normally takes a longer time to cure and can take up to one week for demoulding. The low viscosity resin systems enable the resin to flow into and occupy the smallest of gaps and cavities. Casting resin will normally cure a lot harder than coating resin systems.
To use casting resin kits, you will need to mix part a being the resin with part b the hardener. The proportion of hardener to resin will differ with the sort of resin you are utilising see our resin calculator for further details on proportions. The mixture will start to cure and harden after a specified period of time once mixed.
Once cured, casting resin can be polished or sanded to create a smooth, hard and glossy finish.
With very slow curing casting systems, demoulding can take up to 7 days and up to 14 days until the cured resin is hard enough to sand and polish. Normally Slow casting epoxy resin systems are designed for very large projects such as River Tables or large volume castings (over 3 litres). Therefore, curing times may be enormous when casting smaller items. ArtCast is geared towards smaller casting that requires ultra-toughness against day to day wear and tear. It is ideal when it comes to more complicated designs such as keychains or keyrings to pyramid moulds.
Overall, ArtCast Slow Casting and the process could be associated with numerous advantages, including the pot life and hardness that will contribute to the production of not only beautiful pieces but also complex ones. If you're interested in trying Resin Casting out, we highly recommend giving ArtCast Slow Set 3:1 a try. Just Resin, your online art supplies shop specialising in resin art, has it available.
If you're having trouble with Casting Resin or the Art Casting Process, here are some troubleshooting tips and FAQs that may help.
A: When measuring Casting Resin, if you find the casting is curing hard but has wet tacky spots usually on bottom, this is the outcome of not enough hardener.
A: When measuring Casting Resin, if you find once resin is cured, the resin is still soft and malleable, this is the outcome of having too much hardener.
A: 1. Over 10 percent ink/pigment/acrylic paint to Resin ratio by weight was used *It is important to note that not all acrylic paints or pigment additives are compatible and some will catalyze the curing process since they contain high levels of water.
A: 2. Excess Part B, measuring is to be accurate
A: 3. Room temperature too high, should be 22-25 degrees
A: 4. Mixed Resin should not be left in a confined area (e.g. cup, jug) as this will speed up the curing time and may experience violent exothermic reactions.
A: This can occasionally occur due to incorrect mixing of the resin and hardener together a small trick is to pour Part B (Hardener) first then add Part A (Resin) this to help the resin not to stick to the sides of the container or jug. Stir until Resin and Hardener are clear and without streaks, do not forget to scrape the sides and stick.
A: Bubbles may be caused by several reasons. The first reason could be that you mixed the resin and hardener excessively before you poured them in the mould.
A: The other thing that could happen is that your piece is too thick and this can cause pockets of air to become trapped within it as it dries, this can happen more in cooler weather.
A: Occasionally some moulds may entrap air bubbles on the wall, this may be caused by a rough mould surface sometimes found when using DIY moulds, or in very small high detail moulds. A small secret is to run a mixing stick or brush over all the surfaces of the mould, this will aid the release of air bubbles.
A:To avoid this there are a couple of things you can do. First is to ensure that you apply mould release agent on your mould before you pour in the resin. It may also be that the resin has not fully cured and may still be soft, in which case it has more time before de-moulding.
